I've generally always dislike these because - although it protects your screen - it tended to make it a little dull with lack of contrast. However - what I do like is the matt finish that doesn't leave the oily fingerprints everywhere and your finger just glides over it.

Is there a brand of protector that I doesn't degrade quality much that I can maybe use ?

I have a tempered glass screen protector on my phone. It fits perfectly with no bubbles and is easy to fit yourself.

Thanks guys.

Just seen these aren't quite so easy to put on :(

Bubbles, skew ... bleh

That's what I thought - but it's great with no fingerprints or anything

What phone? I don't use protectors and doesn't have any signs of wear on my one year old S4

Z2.

It's not the wear that concerns me - it's the seeing how clean it was out the box without fingerprints. Perhaps my fingers are extra oily ;)

In my experience, matte screen protectors tend to degrade the perceived quality (clarity) of the display, whereas glossy protectors don't change how the screen look, but tend to show fingerprints.

Then you can wash it ;)

I have the Z1, it originally came with a stick-on protector. The sales guy instore (where I got my phone) applied it for me. It was in the box, and I cannot fit them.

Now I remove the protective case(rubber) that is on my phone and with the sticky on I wash my phone under barely lukewarm (lightly soapy) water(hot is bad for phone) every month or so.

It is after all a waterproof phone ;)

Yea I do that with my Sony Tab currently... Just right this may be a better solution. But it seems to get less fingerprints than my S3 - weird

And for those of you that wanna call me insane....

use google
look up some of the studies done on cellphones .
There are some scary trace bits (or bigger) found on cellphones people carry around.
Those same phones are often touched just before the person greets another(hand shake), or eat lunch.

washing can get rid of fingerprints and dirt. It cannot prevent scratches. Either get a sticky protector or the tempered glass ones that have been mentioned.

I'm not sure about the Z2, but the original Z1 has glass both front and back, hench I have a cover on the phone too. I would be very unhappy if I put the phone down and it got scratched doing so.

It is just finding the best cover which is tough :(

I would recommend Bodyguardz UltraTough Clear but I see they don't have one for the Z2.

I have one on my Lumia 1020 and it's nearly impossible to notice that it is there.
