screencard

Its Dalaran not Daralan ;)

But have to agree a new graffic card does make a huge difference, though for some reason that increase soon starts to wine away :(
I play on a 22'' widescreen full resolution it is quite amazing the level of detail! Same card as Pornolio, though I did build my PC a year ago just for wow.

Well on a good note Werries... its not just our local pc's that got an upgrade... Shadowsong realm will also be getting hardware upgrades this week :D

now put vertical sync on, triple buffering, reduce input lag, 8x multisampling, full shadows, and everything full. And you wont get 80fps:), i know this how? my friend has that card and he suffers when he puts it all high.

Yea no **** its gonna lag when you turn up the settings, E-peen stroker much ?

I still have to run with Vsync on due to tearing, so I am capped at 60 FPS everywhere except dalaran. (Dalaran it goes down to 40 FPS). Damn nice playing wow again with all the eye-candy full taps open :D

Do you also notice the image tearing ? I also can't stand it! Many people say they don't even notice it
Vertical Sync for life baby!

Yup the tearing is very very visible to me... some of my friends claim they dont notice anything... but I have my doubts... I have to run with Vsync on.

It annoys the crap out of me watching the graphics making tears / waves on the screen.

I also noticed bad bad tearing on my mac, and on the desktop, especially when you go around corners quickly, you see have the wall in front of you then quickly its gone, extremely frustrating. But even with vsync on its slightly visible.

Regardless of whether you like playing with a Monster (Terumo, Dusks fiance) or not (Brookelle), this thread actually helped me make up mind ... Tks Semaphore, it looks like I'll be getting a HD 4890 1gb.

Next question is which brand would you recommend (Sapphire, XfX .... )?

XFX:) over clocking is protected by the warranty

yip like i said ..maxed..but i have found that its dropping a lot lately..not because of where i am but because of the server itself..so you could say that fps is directly affected by lag etc and not really your graphics card..ie you will still get fps drops even with the best graphics card on the market

True but the bigger your budget the less noticeble it will be cos mid to topend cards tend to run on more and faster Vram than your R400 jobbies

sorry but you are misinformed, fps is not determined by latency. FPS has nothing to do with internet connectivity, all UI rendering is done via the graphics card, and any data sent from the server will be rendered when received. You will have FPS drops if you are in an area with over 400 people not because you have 600-800ms latency just because your graphics card will be calculating trillions of polygons a second, further more if your processor cannot deal with the amount of data it has to process you then get bottle necking.

And when my latency is terrible i still have 80FPS+ in daralan or any other high populated area.
