I recently went to a WC match and I was wondering. Those screens they have there... are those images they show the same as supersports... like if you were watching ss you'd see the same image on your tv thats at the stadium screns, SABC's or are they their own images?

Match images are the same. Pre-match, half-time and pot-match are different.

It depends what feed they use... the media tribune for instance has 8 direct feeds to it. One of those is similar to the one they'd feed to other broadcasters but without any of the logos and scores etc. One is a static overhead etc. The one on the big screen is more than likely the same as the broadcast images but I noted the other day they removed the time and score from the Durban one towards the end of the game.

It would not be the exact same feed as the one to SABC or Supersport though as that one is delayed by about 4 seconds or so and it would be disconcerting watching that live on the big screen (the delay, by my understanding, is caused by those images being "uploaded" to Nasrec, packaged and then transmitted). We'd often have both feeds on at the same time on different TVs in the media centre and the time delays were significant.

Ah - I was wondering about this. I'd guess the only replay in the stadium itself would be goals?
Ja, I think so. For example at the Germany v Aus match they didnt show the Tim Cahill red card offence, but showed all the goals. Don't think they showed offside decisions either, but not sure

Noticed exact same thing sitting here...dont think its the exact same feed...

The vision mixers in the control room control what is being fed to all the broadcasters, and control what's being fed to the stadium screens.
Sometimes they'll feed the stadium screens the same images that are being broadcast on TV, other times they'll overlay adverts or replays or crowd shots etc.

Since the refs watched the replay (and admitted to it) before sending Zidane off in the Italy - France final, FIFA have banned replays of incidents (usually just tackles, handballs) from being shown in stadiums so the feed cannot be the same.
