...because I'm looking at investing in an ASIC for either (or both) and trying to get a feel for predictions come December 2017.

How much do you anticipate difficulty to go up and profitability to go down as a percentage of where it currently sits?

I've been pretty much behind scrypt since making the decisions to look at investing in an ASIC for this, but x11 a-la Dash is beginning to look sweeter by the day.

The monetary impact is, of course, one thing. It's that 3-month wait between pulling the trigger and hearing the shot that's going to drive me insane!!! :crylaugh:

they both make money:) but X11 tied to "dash" value whereas scrypt has better "spread" ie. more coin options with scrypt mining

Sure, they're both making money today. I'm more curious what everyone thinks things will look like in 3-4 months time when everyone and his dog has a D3 or L3 miner. Going to be a very different picture then. What you reckon? 30% drop? 50% drop?

Also, I could be wrong, but AFAIK the D3, like the L3, can mine different coin based on the same algo? For someone like me, that's irrelevant, wanting to sell my hashing (initially) rather than mining coin outright.

reckon about 50% diff increase however this could be offset by increases in coin value/demand. difficult dynamic, very hard to predict imho....whats life without a little gamble!:D
