Bought a new sd card and it has been working fine. For the first time last year I filled it up with fotos 120GB. Came home and open the fotos and about half way into the shoot it did this:

Out of the 2000 photos 240 got corrupted.

All 240 are grouped together and about 70% into the shoot. All the our photos are fine.

Come this year do the same amount of photos again. Same story.

Took out the SD card ran a h2testw on it and it passed no problem. Full read and verify test.

Do I just replace the card and hope its the problem somehow?

Canon 600D

I'd replace the card.

I'm curious as to why you're storing all those images on a SD card to begin with. I dump mine after every shoot and then reformat the card (always in camera) before using it again.

Have you tried copying them all over to your computer first and then trying to open them?

It was one day shoot that had more then 2000, came home and dumped them same day

I did copy them to pc as well, also the photos was fine just after shooting them because I remember checking focus and exposure as I took them.

Came home both camera and PC showed them corrupted.

The card performance together with camera file processing capabilities seem to be the likely cause of your issues. The H2testw results show that the card functioned properly so the probable source of file corruption stems from the camera's writing processes.

What brand of sd card? It’s possible there could be compatibility issues given the age of the camera.

Yup, had this happen to a Canon PowerShot model, had to throw it away. Also, that model sometimes refused to retract the lens properly.
Adata but going back to sandisk..
Yeah try another card.

Hmm, last year I went through my moms photos as I was backing them up for her. Lots of the photos looked like this, I thought they were corrupted on the USB I was viewing them from.

Also a Canon, doubt I has a el Cheapo SD card in it.

Can one update the FW on these cameras? I think its one of the low end EOS models.

They often do release updates, check the canon website

I use a 600D as my beat-em-up (the one that gets held on an extended tripod over a stream, used in heavy rain, etc - the 20D and 30D receive a "bit" more careful treatment) so I'd be surprised if it's that as I have a variety of 32GB SD cards spanning everything from Adata to Kingston to Transcend to SanDisk.

I will give a new card a shot cheapest before replacing the camera :( Good little camera

Mine's been going strong for around 15 years now, and it's survived abuse it was never designed to experience. It's been used in rain and wind so strong you struggle to breathe, and that was back in 2013 at the old Conradie Hospital in CPT, so any effects of the rain would have manifested LONG ago.

Did you ever have to replace the little rubber plugs covering the usb port?

Nope, but I basically never open it. I connected it to a laptop once for a (failed) attempt at astrophotography, and other than that I don't think I've ever opened it.
