SD channels on HD PVR

What do they look like? Do they look better than when played on a plasma/LCD/LED on a non-HD decoder?

There is definitely an improvement on picture quality on the SD channels, still not brilliant but better then if it was going through an SD decoder and RCA cables.

The HDMI cable gives a much better image, however still not HD
