Hey Guys

I have just installed the easy view DSTV with the SD (1131) decoder since my other aerial and TV blew with the lightning.

I have noticed that the quality on my Sinotec HD ready LCD is very poor.I get a lot of haze especially on the characters.I kind of eliminated the LCD as it is super clear with my XBOX (YPBR connection) and when watching movies.

Certain times it is clear but this is just for a few adverts and some movies.

I have changed the resolution on the decoder to 16:9 but it doesnt fit to screen and cuts off any subtitles or any messages.I am currently on 4:3 -Letter on my DSTV and i have reset my Sinotec to defaults .
This is so annoying !

Is there anything i can do to improve this ??My previous CRT Logik was looking so muh better with TV broadcast!!!

That's because you are watching a SD broadcast on a HD TV, you'll need to get use to it.

What link are you using between the decoder and the TV?
If 16:9 is not looking right, there is a problem with the TV settings somewhere.
Remember that if you running your decoder 16:9 that most of the SD content will have black bars on the sides, and that wide screen content will have black bars at the top, bottom and sides :(
Using the zoom function to enlarge that pic so that it fills the screen again gives a very poor quality picture.

Good calibration can make a huge difference as well.
That being said, it will never match your CRT when it comes to SD content.

RC connection between decoder and TV.
You are correct - if i use the 16:9 setting on the decoder then the bars appear on the side or the header and footer is blocked. Also if i use this setting and zoom then it doesnt fit to screen.

... or rather "That's because you are watching a SD broadcast on a LCD HD TV, you'll need to get use to it." ... SD still looks very good on plasma.
