Hi guys

Has anyone had any luck with sDSL out there?

Not sure I follow. AFAIK SDSL is not available here.

Why do you ask?

I've heard it is. Basically two sdsl routers over a 2-wire analogue leased line.

they will never use it here, whats the point when u have adsl2+ coming out, cheaper to implement the newest technology than an older technology, although RADSL is still an option

that would be cheap :p

You are limited to the same telkom exchange and it cannot have fibre in the loop. Also, Telkom won't install ananlogue lease lines that can support baseband modems in certain areas. I tried in a major CBD and was told not to even try.. it won't happen. Not sure if our rep said that due to the fiber in the loop or they wouldn't since they knew it would be for SDSL.

We have confirmed that you can get 2mbps synchronous with SDSL on telkom lines.. The distance is the primary issue and whether or not you use a DSLAM or not. The dslam doesn't seem to have the reach that some of the SDSL modems do in the back to back mode.. Also the configuration of the modems for back to back use can be a bit of a challenge, the first time..

Also, you would still need to buy the bandwidth to get to the net as it would only be a point to point option..

The only valid "DECENTISH" option would be to get Diginet Plus then
