Seacom Competition

I'd enter, but I don't have a camcorder to enter with, which is why I'd like to win a camcorder and I don't have the bandwidth to upload video with which is why my entry would've shown me uploading video to youtube and whatnot.
What a stupid competition. "Here's a prize you need one of already, to be able to win, which you can do by entering our competition which requires you to use what we may bring to you in the future which is also your answer".
Idiots.

haha.,.. I saw that on Facebook. I guess it is not really Seacom's fault. They built the cable, but dammit it's taking a helluva long time for the ISPs to start feeding the bandwidth through.

anyways... I could not be bothered with that competition. Got better things to do.

Seriously Garyvdh, you are one of only a few guys who give me a run for my money when it comes to spending time on the Internet. ;)

I thought the thread title was the announcement of another undersea cable - i.e. competition for Seacom.

Almost got excited for a moment about how this might be the one that brings us better broadband.

:D:D:D

Not jealousy, just wondering how you manage it.

I do about 16 hours/day 24x7, only because I do not exist in the real world.

You have a wife and kids and still spend at least as much time as I do here.

I cloned myself a few years back. :)

I actually just left a comment on the Seacom site explaining why the competition sucks so much. I just received an automated reply from the email addy of the Seacom rep that he will be out of the office until the 21st.
At least I now have someone at Seacom's actual email address so that I can pester them should the need arise. :p

Be creative & enter by thinking out of the box

The Broadband Competition allows for video entries using a multitude of devices for e.g. mobile phones, camcorders, PCs, laptops, etc. Youtube, the video-sharing site we're utilizing for the competition also allows for direct recording via a webcam and uploads via a mobile to an email address provided within the uder's account.

The competition is meant to inspire African Internet users and those who have yet to have capable access to the Net to share their visions of what true Broadband connectivity could do for the continent. Its a means to get Africans to start thinking outside the box and exploring the possibilities of what true broadband really means for Africa.

The public have also been encouraged to come experience Seacom's broadband connectivity at the upcoming Broadband Experience exhibition being held from 14 -18 October 2009 at Nelson Mandela Square, Sandton City. Users will be encouraged to enter the Broadband Competition at the exhibition utilizing the free bandwidth that will be available.

So if you'd like to stand a chance at winning the awesome HD camcorder that's up for grabs as well as the Seacom hamper then I urge you to get a little creative and enter the competition

I made a video with my phone. It's 50mb. That means the entry will cost me in excess of R100.

Images also allowed!

Broadband Competition now open to picture entries along with video so go wild and unleash your creativity! http://is.gd/3Y63W #competition
