MWeb just posted the following on Facebook:

http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/FreeTheWebSA

"Please note that we have lost up to 50% capacity on our Seacom bandwidth due to a failure on one of the routes. We are prioritising traffic accordingly using our remaining capacity. There’s no confirmed ETA yet for when our full capacity will be restored but as soon as we know, we will update everyone."

Damnit thats unfair. I really am getting kind of sick of mweb now, speeds are rarely ever great. Still haven't heard of anything that is better/as good though.

Somewhere, over the rainbow, there are ****ty equipment that keeps failing...

HAHAhahaha!!! Well i am having a problem with the Telkom line anyway - but its nice to know once its fixed that there will be this to look forward to *insert Hysterical laughter here*

there's no news on the seacom website, anyone have an update on the situation ?

As mentioned, it's probably not a SEACOM issue (my downloads on Afrihost [which uses SEACOM] are running fine), probably MWeb's connection TO SEACOM. Best to contact them directly.
