Seagate 1TB External Clicking

The Seagate external drives are extremely vulnerable to that clicking. We use several at my work and several of them show this behaviour, which is firstly scary and secondary very annoying if you're sitting next to the thing. I have always noted with concern how Seagate external drives claim to be 7200RPM, yet they cost less than the internal 7200RPM drives themselves do. So either they use dubious quality in these devices, or they aren't really 7200RPM.

na... clicking is the HDD itself, LOL wait till its starts screeching :D (next stage)

Yeah I know but removing it from the bay will eliminate whether it's the connections or power coming from the enclosure as the problem.

Using it on Ubuntu, or removing it from the enclosure and installing it in the pc seemed to have solved the issues on mine. But it is a 1.5tb Freeagent desk.

Oh, the drive was in fact a 5400RPM one...

Have been having the most amazing, frequent problems with seagate drives this year. Have a stack of failed drives next to my machine just need to find the time to return them. Have since moved to samsung and hitachi with no problems.
