I bought a bunch of Seagate Barracuda LP 2TB hard-drives from Esquire 2 days ago (ST32000542AS with firmware CC34). Seem they are yet another slew of Seagate drives with faulty firmwares.
But WAIT, there's more:
Not only do they have the defective firmware CC34, the update utility refuses to update them to CC35 (the fixed firmware). I found this by doing some searching:
http://niallbest.com/seagate-2tb-st32000542as-cc35-firmware-upgrade/
So be warned for those who are planning on buying this drive. Not only does it have a faulty firmware, you cannot update it to fixed firmware even if you identify the problem.
*sigh* Seagate just keep getting worse at this, at least the other drives didn't have problems with firmware updating.
