I had this NAS for quite some time. I started experiencing issues where it would not respond to the network. I managed to do hdd test which it can do in its own interface and all cleared. Probably within a day it totally stopped responding (it is not available in the network at all). Now I am not sure if it is the NAS or the hdd's.
Is there an easy way to test which of it is the culprit?
Apart from that, what is a decent NAS to look at these days that is not too expensive? I have used my current NAS basically as a server for media and general backup. I am also in two mind as I will get fibre soon and will be able to stream more and not have to rely on storing media and are thinking maybe just to get a decent external as I still have a HP microserver which I am now using to serve the media I have. The idea was that the NAS does the normal day to day work and the microserver was where I did my full backups.
Any thoughts?
