Seagate NAS Shares - Help Needed Bringing Back the Dead

Hey all,

So loadshedding did its usual thing, but this time my Seagate NAS went spaz, lost its IP and wiped out all shares.

Ive reconfigured the IP and checked the volume, all seems ok, still no shares except the default admin share which was configured when I setup the device again. The local admin page shows the volume has data on it.

Digging a bit deeper (waaay out of my comfort zone), I can SSH into the device and LS shows the old shares, SWEET, data is still there, but smbstatus --shares only lists the admin share.

I imagine I could access the NAS via Ubuntu, browsing the volume, but theres too many TB of junk on there to copy anywhere else.

Im holding thumbs theres a helpful guru on MyBB that might be able to point me in the correct direction to recreate the shares from the data already on the NAS? Is this even possible?

Right, so im not sure if this makes sense, I created a test folder in the same location as the others, then I VI'd /etc/samba/smb.conf and added the test folder to the bottom, copying the [Admin] share. Restarted the SMB service and the Test Folder showed up via \\IP\. Winning!

I then went back into the web portal for the NAS to check if the test folder share was showing there, and bobs your aunty ALL the old shares are showing up again!

Too true. Its dead again, like a factory reset occurs when loadshedding hits.
