Luck of the draw. Go for what ever's cheapest! I tend to prefer Seagate, sold hundreds and never had a problem, except for one or two notorious 7200.11s which were swapped out on the spot.

Amazing how many people have no clue what they are talking about. The "drive failures" or "problem" you are refering to was not actually a problem with the drive... it was with the firmware of the 7200.11 drives and was fixed. I have been using seagates for the last 16 years and not once has a drive failed. I'm actually still running 2 really old 40gb drives in an old pc
3 of my friends had WD drives fail on them. They all switched to seagate and has been smooth sailing since.
The only WD drive I have is a 2.5" External 500GB I got because they had no 500Gb Seagate drives and it was urgent. I am quite happy with it and it works really well.
Just avoid the 7200.11 Seagate drives and you will be fine.
