= not what I’m looking for / too generalised

How come?

And why do they return much the same results?

hdd = WIFE or HAAI or SIESTOG! :wtf:
How are all these things related, as far as the search function(s) concerned?

Try searching just the titles.

Thx., but makes little or no difference - just comes up with some of the same results & other new ones. I'm being specific in selecting ''forums'' & ''posts'', so don't know why it can't 'home in' on what I'm after.

Rather do a google search with: ‘’external hard disk drives’’ site:mybroadband.co.za/vb/

Forum search function is fooked.

I'll say ...

Google search is better at finding the topic, but surely a search on any forum should (be able to) yield the same or even more accurate results.
I think this is a S.African phenomenon - try searching for something on IOL (newspapers), or last I tried, a no. of years ago, one of the S.African search engines - you never get close to what you're looking for & simply go round-in-circles.

It depends on the webpage's search implementation. Most forums and websites are inferior to google's search, so I use that mostly too.

I dunno how they implement search here. I know you can use another server with vbulletin to do database/search functions like Ubuntuforums for example does. It's all in the implementation I suspect.

Ya I only use google with site: to search specific websites and forums. Usually find what I want within the first 3 results.
