What can you tell me about this car? I've always liked it's styling, kind of Alfa 147ish...seems like someone from Alfa designed it...I'm not sure. But what's the story with SEAT's? Parts wise...service wise...

Why is this one so cheap - R162900 wtih 52000km's on the clock...

I know they are like Alfa's with resale value and all - and I like the fact that they are so rare...just like Alfa's! Individualistic...

tell me more pls...

If you're an ALFA holic then I'm a SEAT aholic... Friend recently bought one for 170k with 44000km so it's not that cheap. I know the ibiza had an alfa designer but not sure about leon but quite possible. Basically it's a GTi, sameish engine, interior not quite as good, comes with a lot of stuff that's optional on GTi's...
Friends one had bluetooth (can see contacts on instrument panel and control from steering wheel), xenons, rain sensor (can be activated to automatically close sunroof if you leave it open), dual zone climate control, etc.

Parts, VW has to support for 10 years after they withdraw, which was 2008 so you're good til 2018. I believe where there's a market there will always be a supplier so maybe you'll have to go to goldwagen or something after that. Most places that deal in parts can just order the stuff anyway. Services you have to take them to certain VW dealerships.

You have a SEAT?

I check one for 159k...but has like 75kkm's on the clock, that's too much...

but hows the car drive? I kind of like them, like I said - not too many on the road. And its a turbo...which I so desperately want, won't be able to justify buying a Giulietta turbo as I'm sure the 170kw version will be close to 300k if not more!...

I think I need to actively sell my 147 and get my ass in a Leon FR...now - just to sell the 147!!!hhhmmmm...but hows it drive, I've never had my ass in a SEAT, lol, SEAT drivers seat before...

Like i said...it has Alfa flair! Look at the rear lights...and the trademark 156 door handle style...if Apple is suing HTC for using their designs, I'm sure Alfa should sue SEAT/VW! I see witha nice 10% dep it all changes the repayments...

I have a ibiza cupra tdi. Drives like a slingshot...
The overall shape is practically a 147. The rear lights are more like a brera. Compared to a leon FR the leon has a lot more features and is more comfortable and drives a lot smoother than the tdi. The cupra tdi is a bit more crazy but I like it like that. You don't want to subject mother/baby to the ibiza cupra suspension...

I used to think they were pretty rare too ...

... but I see at least 2 per day driving around.

Not as rare as a C30 R-Type :p

Maybe there's just 2 where you work Dolby? The leon cupra is a lot rarer than the FR as the FR was around basically the whole 2 years seat was here and the cupra was launched about 2-3 months before they pulled out... Apparently there are only about 100 leon cupras. I hardly ever see leon cupras driving around (in sandton) and don't see many FR's either. There was an FR that would park across the road occasionally and theres a TDI DSG that must work somewhere close but that's about it.

It didn't mean it like that ;) But they only sold 2600 SEATS in this country (all models) so I wouldn't expect to see them *that* often. But I could take pictures and show you how many I've seen every day. I'm not sure on the model though - as I don't know my SEATS that well. I've always got to ask them to equate it to the similar VW ;)

Also bear in mind I have looked for them ; a friends buying a SEAT 118ke diesel, so I'm actually noticing.

Ok...

Ibiza FR = Polo 1.9TDI
Ibiza Cupra >= Polo GTI (just don't tell JK8)
(this comes in 2 forms, the 118kw tdi or the 132kw 1.8T)

Leon FR = Golf GTI
Leon Cupra = S3

Easiest way to tell is from the mags. The "flatter" looking ones with 5 double spokes are the FR and the more spaced out one double spokes are the cupra (Applies to ibiza and leon).
Then easiest way to tell leon fr and leon cupra apart is the mirrors on the cupra are black.

Badge wise the FR's says "leon" or "ibiza" across the back and have a small "FR" top right. The cupra just all say "CUPRA" on the back. Easiest way to tell cupra tdi and 1.8T apart is that the TDI will always have a very dirty exhaust and more than likely clouds of black smoke coming out of the back.

Edit: I think the "CUPRA" on the back confuses most people. Like they saw a car they thought looked pretty much just like that one but it said leon/ibiza and this says cupra, wtf is going on...?

Oh, there's also an altea, think there's only about 42 or something in the country.

LOL from work I always thrash my little twinnie...and a certan black Leon ALWAYS chased me...needless to say, he passes me and then we turn our seperate ways...one day I got up behind the Leon thinking it was a stock standard N/A car, a good match to mine...I saw an FR badge lol, you going to love this...and thought it stood for Frieling Racing and they somehow started to brand their cars lol...he showed me we should go when the light turns green...I nonchelantly turned a blind eye...LMAO!

Lol :p
Frieling racing would use "FRC" not "FR".
So yes he was bullying you ;)

SEAT Leon & Oilslick 147 were designed by the same chap - Walter da Silva. Check the hidden rear door-handles on the Leon and 147; that's a da Silva trademark...

Ja...rear lights as well...Its kinda whack that the same designer will use the same kind of designs for different brands...

I believe he is now the head designer for Audi, so expect their new cars to break away from the staid Germanic look ever so slightly...

hhhhmmmmmm - so who designed the M52 M powah engine? Coz we need him at Alfa!

You need germans designing the inside and italians designing the outside...
