Anyone of you good people ever used www.seatguru.com ?

It gives a list of which are the 'good seats' on the various different planes belonging to the different airlines, and which seats have drawbacks.

My problem - I listed my flight number and airline, but it then comes up with two possible options vis a vis the (type or model of) plane to be used on that flight.

In my case, it can either be South African Airways Airbus A340-200 or 340-300.

And word: on the one option, it does not it even indicate that there are any 'good seats' on the plane. Most are 'standard' or 'seats with drawbacks'.

Have you had any experience with this site?

I always use seat guru to check what the layout of a flight is. They are usually spot on but then I only have used it 5 or 6 times.

As mentioned, for my flight number, they give two different options of planes, which clearly helps absolutely nothing.

Airline probably flies two different planes and alternates. When are you flying? Usually flight layout and type is availble on online check-in.

On 16 December.

Online check-in usually becomes availble 48 hours before the flight and you can get the entire layout to compare to seat guru. Maybe call the airline to see what plane they will be flying on the day?

Thanks for the help :)

I have used the site a lot as well. On all my etickets it usually mentions the type of plane used.

I'm intersted why do you do this? Do you choose flights based on the seats? It's not like it will change anything on the actual plane or flight.

What are you talking about? :)

I do not choose a flight based on a seat! I ALREADY booked the flight - I now want to choose a particular seat and have that confirmed, instead of the person at the check-in counter assisgning me any old seat.

I find seatguru to be accurate on aircraft layout and proximity of stuff like toilets and places people hang out when stretching their legs. But they are inaccurate in terms of "poor seats". They often mention stuff like the seats at the back don't recline and then they actually do.

OOOOOh.... so this is like a pre-online check in seat booking thing. I didn't pick that up.
