Second Attempt To Test The Air Force's First Hypersonic Weapon Fails
A second attempt to carry out a flight test of a prototype of the U.S. Air Force's AGM-183A Air-launched Rapid Response Weapon hypersonic missile, or ARRW, has failed. The weapon separated safely from the B-52H bomber carrying it, but the rocket motor did not ignite. This follows the first unsuccessful attempted flight test in April, in which the missile did not even leave the wing of the B-52H it was attached to.

The Air Force announced the outcome of the test, which occurred on July 28 over the Point Mugu Sea Range in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Southern California, today.

Doesn't China and Russia already have hypersonic weapons. This really is China's century. And I hold no flag for China at all, rather just how far the US has fallen.

China has a prototype one if I remember correctly, not usable against ships etc. yet, unless I missed some new news, range wasn't that great.

But one is never sure if that's Russian propaganda or actually working, same with China, and Russian one is hit something in the Baltic sea but don't know where launched from (based on Putin statement), USA is trying to get theirs to be able to cross most of the pacific, so think this is an issue of catch-up and USA having way higher goals, so not really same ballpark.
 
The US admits its failures. China and Russia do their best to sweep theirs under the carpet. T'was always thus.

"O" for "Offensive"? Maybe no-one liked that...

In terms of air-launched hypersonic missiles, the Chinese have the CH-AS-X-13, which has by most accounts completed several successful test flights.
Aside from the ground launched Avangard, which has entered serial production, Russia's air launched Kinzhal hypersonic missile is in serial production and has been deployed to Syria's Khmeimem Air Base, carried by MiG-31K fighters. It can also be carried by Tu-22M3 bombers for greater range. There are reports that a test fire was performed in the Mediterranean recently.

Yah apparently it failed to hit target but did circumnavigate the earth when it overshot.

That’s like failing but succeeding given that US freaks out over it (no nation able to defend against it/hypo-sonic self navigating). Interesting times we live in.

No, it failed to hit the target by two dozen miles AFTER circumnavigating the globe.
The real story here is that China denies it is a nuclear-capable hypersonic missile, but rather a "routine spacecraft experiment".

If it is a nuclear payload, missing the target by that much is hardly an issue, as even detonating at high altitude would result in a catastrophic EMP.

Luckily the world is still kept save thanks to MAD...
