Second Hand Honda Civic

Brake pads are fairly same price at the spares shop but if you go straight to honda then you pay through the nose. Always buy the too quality at those spare shops that is the expensive one and you never fo wrong

That's the problem I was talking about earlier, Honda is busy painting themselves into a corner with their madness.

But he could be right as there are some cars that use that mechanism. There's Prodigy H which specializes in Honda parts, you could give them a call after lockdown and see what they say. In the meanwhile if the dealer cared they could have tried some adjustment on the handbrake, I am sure it's possible, those things are supposed to last forever since they only work for the handbrake, no way they could have worn to a level that they couldn't be adjusted, unless you drive a 20 yo car?

You could adjust them yourself if you have basic knowledge.

That's the thing. Car is not very old, but the handbrake was getting a little "weak" so I took it into the dealership with a service and asked them to just adjust it for me. Shortly after, it went limp again, and I took it back, told them it went limp again, they must check it out. They did, and told me it's fine, and just adjusted it again. Since then, it make a squeaking noise when driving sometimes, and I have in the meantime figured it probably meant the shoes are touching the drums permanently when driving (could explain increase in fuel consumption). I took it back again, told them they must check again, and that's when they said the shoes are shot, they need replacement.

I was pretty pissed, and the dealer refuses to own up to worn pads. They admitted that they never really checked, they just tightened them off the bat and figured it'll hold. And then promptly quoted me pricey price.

EDIT: Oh, and I'm not stupid, but I'm not clued up enough to replace brakes yet. At all.
