About 80 000 on the clock. Yay or nay?
Any experience with second hand Volvo's? What are the service costs like?

Good car.

Its a premium car so service and spares similar to Audi maybe slightly cheaper, don't expect a backyard mechanic to fix.

Hmmm, someone here at work says Volvos die spectacularly after 70K milage. And then they cost you an arm and a leg to maintain. Can anyone confirm this?

Die after 70k ?

This guy probably drives a Corsa then...

Look at the amount of 850 (incl R), S60 (incl R), S80, V70, C70 and XC90's are WELL over 100k and still running sharp. problem is just that people dont wanna pay the premium to have it serviced once its out of its maintenance plan.

Heres a nice tip, The BIGGEST Volvo service centre in the world is located in Gaborone, Botswana. Surprise! Cheap spares and service ;-)

Dont ask me why the dealers here decide to fly spares in from Sweden instead of just driving across the border to grab some spares :-)

Hmm, any idea what services cost then? Maybe the dealers get a higher percentage markup on expensive shares.

No idea, I was driving around in Gabs when I noticed the insane amount of S60's and the INSANELY big dealership. So i went in and asked, he confirmed my suspicions.

Im looking for a Charcoal S60R...in SA a new headlight alone costs 9k including labour.. :-(

It often isn't the actual service that is expensive but rather any parts they need to replace during said service..

I'm assuming that includes parts because all the quotes I got for services on previous cars of mine included the parts. Is it different for Volvos? Because if that's the cost of labour only then...

But you have 20,000km maintenance plan?
Can Volvo not extend?

yes they can up to 140k km....we asked....but it seemed quite expensive.....something like R20k+....but the dealer 'had to check first'.....anyways, ask to throw in an extra 40k km maintance plan in the deal...
