Hi,
I have a dual wan router and a fibre connection with Openserve. I am considering a second wan connection for emergency situation when the fiber is down. Any advice about what/whom to use?
Thanks

Your idea only works if you have a second fibre provider in the area, like vumatel or octotel for example..

If your fibre is down, a second isp wont help..

How often is your internet down that you can justify paying for an idle connection..?

Having a lot of home automation requiring internet access, when internet is down I experience some issue.
The solution I am looking for is not to have a double ISP to constantly have high speed internet but rather a second connection to manage basic services on my network.
I fully agree with you about the fibre connection, there is no point to have two ISP on the same fibre. My idea is to have a wireless (LTE, 5G, etc) as failover connection on the dual wan router. So if the fibre is down, I can still have a link to internet from a different network to manage the basic services requiring internet. Simple things such as switching on/off lights, pumps, etc. connected to Sonoff.

I am trying with the iPhone hotspot as a gateway on the failover second wan. It works but the access point such as TPlink do battle to connect to the iPhone hotspots.
I am interested to listen about other people solutions/experiences.
