The other half is in the market for a laptop.
She will be using it mainly for research on the net, processing of word and excel documents, lots of Facebook and maybe I will borrow it for playing games with my brother.

I was willing to get a secondhand one but she insists that we buy a new one.

Budget is not that massive.
I was considering importing one again from ebay but customs really screwed up my last parcel and it took more than 2 weeks to get it released and delivered.

Is there any good deals locally? Needs to be 14" or 15".
Budget is R6000.

Ive seen this:HP 6735S at Com X
What do you think? Any good? Can I get better?

Please let me know if you have seen any other good deals in shops or online.

a dual core would be a massive bonus.
RAM is not so important. Will upgrade that myself

Its the best budget deal by far

just pay the extra R363 and double the RAM to 2GB. otherwise it will be very slow.

use the rest of the budget on a bag and cordless Logitech mouse. then you should be sorted.

What sort of games? That laptop has a very weak GPU so unless it's a 2D game we're talking about or a 3D game from 1999, you won't get good performance.

Not major games. Maybe some Counterstrike or Age of Empires. :o

But I eventually got a better laptop yesterday.
I asked if it was a good buy in another thread. http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=167034&goto=newpost

Do you think that Sony will be able to run those games smoothly?

GPU is the same, it's an ATI with shared memory. 2D games (AOE) will run even without a dedicated card. 3D games will run but with reduced quality or resolution. A 1999-2001 game will run with full settings.
