A US company called Novamente is using virtual worlds like Second Life to provide training for their AI.
According to a BBC report the software learns by controlling avatars in this virtual environment.
Initially Novamente said they will use pets that will learn by interacting with human controlled avatars. They are hoping to eventually design a talking parrot.
So next time you hear “Polly want a cracker” in your Second Life ventures, think twice before just handing it over.
