Second Life - SA Server

Hey All,

I was thinking about the possibility of opening a Second Life Server in South Africa. That would mean low pings, awesome playing and the possibility of opening a new game to all our crazy SA gamers.

Who thinks that would be a good idea?

You dont really need a low ping for SL? its not FPS...

Yea I will but first I want to see if I can generate some interest in it... Get people motivated to play and once we have a community then I will go ahead and take the next step.

I think an SA server would be much better then an international one as you still have lag when you have to load all the custom and non-custom content. There's millions of objects on the game.

Just imagine a local server where we could wizz around as if it was real time and not stutter like a lag infested hippie.

I think SA Server would be awesome.

I have to agree with Rusty. Ping doesn't matter on a game like this

But constantly having to download all the new textures and stuff will still be a bitch regardless of where the server is located. Especially on a 384kb/s line...

I tried this game once. IMO, it's possibly the most pathetic "game" I've ever played online.

Are you sure you really want to do this whole server thing, just get a better connection as suggested by someone who's posted here... ur latency will be 300 - 500 on unshaped. Then you can download fast - that is what counts.

Thanks rusty 4 the comments. Latency still a issue because its not a single player game. you still need to see where everyone else is and you have to admit it gets irritating when poeople jump around like retards.
