So we do secret Santa at work every year and it's pretty cool (this year up to R150.00) ... but this year the person I have is from another branch ... that I've never met.

Black lady with 1 kid that I have no idea ... any thought?

Maybe something more Christmassy ...

Is it because she is black or because you don't know her ?

Just visualise for a moment that she isn't black, get her what you would have bought for a white co worker on similar circumstances.

Had a similar situation with a black lady at Christmas do. The trick is to ignore ethnic status, but be careful to not offend. Don't buy something overtly ethnic.

Woollies gifts are great. They are very neutral. Sends the right message as a gift from a stranger. Not too personal.

I think Secret Santa is one of the dumbest ideas ever. Everyone should rather take that money and buy themselves a gift. At least that way you'll definitely get something that you want.

Too bad for you. We decided to do it for our xmas lunch. I'll let you know who you get matched up with once we know who's going to be there (and you won't be matched up with yourself).

This is what I got for my colleague (also middle aged, dont really know her or her only child) :

https://www.lush.co.uk/product/6104/Christmas-Party

If they have Lush in SA I can absolutely recommend it. Great products with a quirky, fun twist.

EDIT: And the Sultana of Soap smells like heaven.

I knew there would be some issues to the race ... but it's a valid point with regards to cultural differences etc\

Thanks mooks ... don't think we have them here :(

Lush just opened at V&A. Don't know about the rest of the country.

Woolies gift voucher seems like a win for an anonymous woman. Do you have a set value though? Because R100 wont get you very far :p
