Securing swing gate

Moving to a property with a swing gate. Never used these before but the gap between the 2 gates is worrying me. It has a small latch but i don’t think it will do much. How can I improve the security on this? I marked the gap with a red pen

Bicycle chain is your best bet, you can get strong ones with number locks.
