Hi. Im wanting to repurpose the hdds from 2 original explora decoders for storage/backups. I understand they use a torx security bit. My normal torx bits dont work well. Are they t8,9 or 10?

Want to avoid the cleanup of drilling the screws or breaking them open.

the ones on the back are torx with the centre having a piece of metal in them
So im thinking the ones underneath are torx as well. From What it looks like it needs the torx with a hole in the centre. Takealot has them but dunno what size to buy..

I just drilled them out. A friend used some needle-nosed pliers with a serrated grip. Fiddly but it worked

But then i wont have a screwdriver that just lays in the toolbox for that once in a blue moon when i need it! Okay let me drill them out...

Oh, those are security torx.. sized the same as standard torx screws, just with the holes..

Ended up drilling them out. Some of them were feisty. As stated on a few other threads i got a few old seagate 2tb video hdds. Slow but okay for files/storage. The pvrs were jst laying in the garage.
