What would you guys recommend?
I need 2 x cameras to put onto my network that can be remotely viewed, dont need recording so just 2 cameras on my network and the ability to dial into them on my line from another location.

Thanks guys I see there are IP cameras but they are fairly pricey

Any ideas?

IP Camera's would be the way to go.
You can then forward certain ports from your router to your camera's.

Otherwise if you can get a USB cable to it, then get 2 web cams and use Webcam XP Pro.
It's a Webcam surveillance program, and can be viewed remotely (With some setup).

I have used it before, and works very well...

choose an entry level IP cam. Axis is great but maybe to expensive, try Vivotek

What he ^ said ..Axis is very entertainingly expensive and, if you choose wisely, Vivotek *CAN* be less so ..but won't necessarily be. Still, there's a whole lotta product out there - what specs/performance parameters matter to you?

Just want to be able to watch remotely _ small rooms
Okaaay, that's a start :p. These small rooms, they weatherproof: are mountings going to be necessary - will they be necessary for security of the cams from vandalism/theft? They got lighting at night, or is this just a daytime gig? How much do you care about image size and frame rate? Do you want sound (altho', to be fair, lots of these things come with microphones anyway, this one's mostly a gimme) ...how about any PT (no Z) action? (PTZ is pan/tilt/zoom).

And ALL of the above constrained by budget, gotta love speccing things against the ever-lovin' budget!

I have used IP camera's in the past and personally dislike them.

If I were you I'd rather get a 4 port DVR and two cheap cameras, stick the dvr in the closest secure pc and run the wiring through from there.

Both wireless and IP cameras are either very expensive or they are rubbish.

i would reccomend an embedded DVR over a card in a PC. Unless that PC is truly spare and will be dedicated to its job of CCTV only. Check out www.s4s.co.za for embedded machines. Try look out for H.264 comrpession as this will give you better speed over the net for remote viewing.
