I've recently had a number of false alarms from an outdoor security beam. I'm interested to know what's causing it, having seen a number of small nocturnal visitors - rats, a genet, the neighbour's cat and a bush baby - in the near vicinity of this beam. We also have a small neighborhood troop of vervet monkeys, while the neighbour's camera caught a baboon in their driveway a while back. I have one camera up at the moment - an EzViz H3C, which is remarkably good at detecting people and notifying me, but is pointing at another part of the property. I am still planning on installing a couple more cameras, but would like to know if there's a trick (or a better camera) for catching small animals in action.

Yes, simply get your buddy drunk and when he passes out, drag him out to that portion of the yard to unwittingly serve as bait, to attract the critters/creatures.

Meanwhile, you get ready to catch them in their curiosity.

Like this, for example:

However, if you don't have all that much time for all that, you can simply detach the EzViz H3C camera and place it at the hunting spot for the night, with the help of a power extension cord, because the H3C has WiFi built in.
