Howdy peeps

Just curious, has anyone does this course? I would really like some advice on what to expect in the exam

I did N+ a couple years ago and have been in support for a good few years now and am looking to change fields.
Im doing the course through Comptia and I felt the N+ originally didnt give enough info on the subject and the questions whilst doing the course were piss easy obvious multiple choice questions...but the actual exam was tricky and rude...

Ive asked my college the same question but they take ages to get back to me... :(

Dont expect it to be a life changing course that teaches you how to be a l33t haxor and conequentially a security expert.
All of the + courses are basic and cover small and fairly standard concepts.

Yup. I know

Im doing CEH next and then CISSP :D

Aaah fair enough. Its worth having on your cv and you might get something out of it, but its not even going to compare to CEH and most def not to CISSP!

Yeah but S+ is the basis. Theres actually a crapload of vulnerablities in standard windows programs and hardware. Its all about disabling whats not needed and beefing up DNS's etc.

Gotta secure the environment first before breaking in.

But yeah, I drifted through the N+ course and when it came to the exam I looked at some MCSE books 1st and freaked out at how much wasn't covered.

I don't really feel like failing...I can obviously checkout braindumps etc but I would really like word of mouth advise like do you have to memorize EVERY port that can be to attack or will there be a guide of sorts...? - also, how technical are the questions

The Security+ is a really basic exam and is a good starting point if you are beginning a career. I've done the CEH and the CISSP. The CEH is a excellent technical exam and gives you a really good understanding of how pen testing works.

The CISSP is also a great one to have - it covers just about everything and gives you a good overall understanding of security. You need to know your stuff for this one though which is why its still a respected cert.

Memorizing the braindumps will get you nowhere. You might be fooling yourself but you will look like a moron in the security world if you don't know what your doing and you have a bunch of certs behind your name. Once things for sure is that braindumps won't help you squat with the CISSP.

Yeah, I've been advised to do the CISSP only much later when I have more security experience.
I've actually just finished the whole course, I just need to go over the V-labs. Its not really a hard course but I'm betting their questioning will be tricky in the actual exam.

I didn't mean memorizing brain dumps, I meant the firewall port list specifically. In the N+ exam I memorized all 32 ports(out of 4000 or wotnot) and what a mission that was. Now in the S+ exam theres even more!@ - I just want to know if there will be a portlist/guide available or if my memorize dat shiz again...??
