Security guard shot during KZN armed robbery [VIDEO]

Johannesburg - A security guard was shot in the arm on Saturday afternoon when a group of six armed men stole an undisclosed amount of money from him in Newlands West, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

The men, armed with rifles, attacked the guard around 12:30 on Inanda road, in Parlock, spokesperson Jay Naicker said.

An armed robbery case was opened. The group was still at large.

Earlier, Netcare911 spokesperson Chris Botha said the shooting took place at KFC franchise in the area.

He said the guard and two bystanders had sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Two other bystanders were treated on the scene for trauma, Botha said.
