Seedboxes and torrents- help please...

Slots per server means the amount of people using the same server , And when you buy from them you fill a slot (slot = person on a server) ... From them I would recommend the ORIGINAL GERMAN POWER .

The Original German Power one seems a bit pricey to me, their usual semidedi's seem reasonable.

Xirvik looks great, but pretty expensive in general. Beginners like me probably need to start with a lower end system and move up to something like this if I can't get everything I want on a smaller system.

Goodness, two weeks I'm not on the internet and a thread on seedboxes starts! :)

I'm with Aerovps and now the accounts increased in terms of bandwidth and disk space for a few rands more... Interesting about all the good gen in here, I'm a newbie with this stuff: so thanks guys!

With regards to anonymity, can someone confirm, or correct me please.

The IP address is in effect my fingerprint on the internet: I’m traceable with it. This is obviously not good when sharing torrents, so to stop anyone seeing it (i.e. anti peer 2 peer companies), we should use a program like Peerblock to stop the connections made to my pc at an entry level: the packets are dropped early on the entry to your computer. But Peerblock type programs are only as good as the database used.
So next up is to spend a few rands and get a seedbox. This then allows the seedbox IP address to be made available on the tracker, and anti-p2p can send the emails to that IP instead: the hosting company. Assuming that seedbox companies don’t keep your personal details, it’s a dead end for those warning emails (can someone confirm this?) Unless of course your details of payment are handed over to this anti-p2p company since I would assume that there is inevitably a link between your account payment and the seedbox (after all that’s how they know if you paid the monthly premium or not). So anonymity will be compromised in such a case. I’m not sure what Paypals privacy policy is regarding handing out of your personal details…

Then the next weak link is between your pc and the seedbox server: without a secure connection, you could be monitored at your ISP level to see what actually goes through your line. A secure connection then ensures the ‘dark tunnel’ spoken about in earlier posts (similar to internet banking I suppose). In both scenarios though, your IP would present itself on the seedbox server, however in the latter it’s not possible to prove definitively what your transferred to your computer.

Lots of seedbox companies say they ‘don’t keep logs’: anyone know what they mean by this i.e. what qualifies as a log?

I've never liked the idea of having stuff I've downloaded stored on a third party server. How is that anonymous? I've never liked the idea of seeding stuff I've downloaded. Much prefer downloading full speed and no limits from a premium Usenet account using SSL. Torrents should be a last resort. IMHO.
 
you all are wrong i know of alot of people that has feralhosting and they have alot fo guides to teach you how to use, you can unrar delete duplicate almost anything with feral

Is IPT a website: cos I googled it to come to some interesting websites that have the IPT name in it (like Insulin Potentiation Therapy :) )
 
As a matter of interest to all those here who use seedboxes for torrents/p2p: did anyone ever receive those dmca, riaa etc email letters...?

Did anyone get these letters using a pc direct, and not via a seedbox?
