Which is more important to ensure a quicker download? The number of seeds or number of peers?

What does seeding do when your download is complete? I never really understood this, so any help would be appreciated.

Seeds are actively sharing the full file while peers are sharing a portion as they download. Best to look for a high number of seeds and peers (and check the comments as well).
