I saw the youtube video on Airdroid- looks good. Just one question, can I delete sms's from my pc or must the action be performed on the phone?

Have a look at MyPhoneExplorer (its Free).

You can use it to sync your android data to Outlook, ThunderBird and some others. It connects to your phone by either USB or wireless. While connected it will alert you of any incoming calls and or messages and you can answer the calls from your desktop.

You are also able to send messages and or make calls from your desktop.
