Looking to upgrade my current PC but i not been keeping tabs on whats what in the PC Industry. So i'm hoping some of you rather clever girls and boys can assist me.

I'm currently running :

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo CPU E7600 @ 3.06GHz
Memory: 4.00 GB RAM
GPU: GeForce GTX 460
Windows 7 Ultimate

I've had this PC now going on 4-5 yrs. I'm looking for an affordable upgrade solution. something that if i decide to maybe purchase a newly released game within the next year or so it will run without an issue.

Any Suggestions. ? Beware you need laymen terms :P as i been out of the game for a while now.
I'd put down what i'm looking to spend but i don't even know anything about pricing any more.
And no I don't do overclocking (if that is still a thing)

Budget? Many here can give suggestions, but it would narrow it down if you can hint at what you can afford.

What woudl you say is the most reasonable costing upgrade. ? i could say my Budget is 10K, but i'm a cheapskate so might only wanna spend say 5k because i mostly play on Console.

So you only wanna change those items you mentioned above? Or a whole new pc case and all?

Yes.. CPU GPU and maybe stick a couple of extra Ram Sticks.. Powersupply and HDD are fine.. case is rather large.. not worried about a case.. just get some cheapo case to fit the Motherboard in

Something like that? Sorry about the screen shots its on my phone I dont feel like going to my pc :P

Your CPU is bottlenecking your card big time, just to give an idea a new Intel G3258 duo core @ R800 is literally twice as fast as what you currently have.

But I'd definitely suggest getting an i5, if you don't mind secondhand, you can pick up a 2 year old 3rd gen one for around R1300

A new Gen4 one would at least cost R2400-R3000 and not have much of a performance gain.

The best you can do new for under 2k is the AMD fx6300 or i3 gen 4 around R1700/R1500 which would give similar performance in games. That i3 dual core has proven to be somewhat adequate even in the latest games due to it's hyperthreading and even beats the FX6300 in most cases.

Do the CPU first, which would obviously mean new motherboard and RAM too. Actually play around with your PC a bit and wait till end of January before deciding on new Graphics card/Power Supply.

You haven't really seen your graphics card performing as it's max anyways.

Your graphics is actually ok for some casual gaming.

I'd just upgrade your CPU:

http://www.wootware.co.za/msi-990fxa-gd65-v2-amd-990fx-sb950-socket-am3-atx-desktop-motherboard.html

http://www.wootware.co.za/g-skill-f...v-cl9-dual-channel-sniper-desktop-memory.html

The above is R4 000

Then depending on what your do on PC.

If you use your PC a lot for work and stuff and stuff well maybe consider:
http://www.wootware.co.za/crucial-c...6gb-2-5-sata-iii-6gb-s-solid-state-drive.html

And if you really need a new Graphics card:
http://www.wootware.co.za/powercolo...rd-includes-3-free-games-amd-golden-tier.html

That's R8600 so far and just power supply:

http://www.wootware.co.za/openbox-s...er-supply-warranty-expires-november-2018.html

So that's all together R9 500 for a brand new PC.

You only really need a CPU and MOBo and RAM.

Get the SSD if you want your PC to feel super fast.

If you plan on getting new games get the GFX card and power supply together. That PC should be good for the next 5 years for you.

Where do you live?

For example if you want to cheap it out and don't mind secondhand, this dude in Durban is selling the following for R2900
http://carbonite.co.za/f39/lga-1150-bundle-cheap-88366/

That CPU is already around 3k new (and can't be more than a year old), then you get a good entry level not very fancy MB, with USB3 and SATA3, 4Gig ram and a hard-drive.

My problem with the AMD FX6300, if a game only supports 2 cores, you stuck with two cores with a single thread rating of 1400, not much faster than your current set up. Even running on all 6 cores, it gets served by most Gen4 i3s.

NVM: Cape Town.
