Does anyone have any sort of self-watering solution in place?

And specifically something that doesn’t require replacing my pots with an entire smart option but rather just some contraption to go into the existing pots I have distributed all over.

With summer here it’s so easy to forget and murder some plants that don’t live outside in the automated irrigation.

Cactuses. Forget to water them for three years and it's fine.

Ha ha, those I have plenty of but primarily it’s the herbs and carnivores I keep inside the house that is a concern.

I’m actually surprised Xiaomi isn’t in this space, even if it was a full blown pot.

Don't have a system but would this fit the bill?

Hmm, seems very big but if it works that would be fine.

Guess it’s not too expensive a gamble to try.

No no, I have irrigation outside.

This is rather looking for a solution inside, with individual pots all over the place.

But seems I’ve tried way too hard thinking how to make it smart when there are plenty of rudimentary old school solutions available.

Ok, I'm with you now.

If you have (access to) a 3d printer, find a few things like this that will work with a normal soft drink bottle

That’s actually a good place to look and I do have indirect access to one.

Terracotta pots called Olla if the containers have enough space. They cost a fortune but plenty of DIY ideas if you're that way inclined.

"When ollas are filled with water it seeps through the pores of the unglazed terracotta, evaporates and cools the pot and its contents.

This water seepage was put to good use for irrigation too. Possibly first originating in North Africa, this method has been used for thousands of years in China, India, Iran and Central America and is increasingly being used by gardeners in the USA, Australia and New Zealand."

Yeah those spikes seem to be working on this exact principle.

I’ll buy a couple and find out.

I’ve got some very fancy pots I really don’t want to replace.

What about one of those IV bag things they use in hospitals filled with water?

My stepbrother has misting for a little terraerium he has .

Unsure what it runs or what it can be integrated with, but I know app controlled, selecting frequency and time limit etc . I was thinking of something similar for my venus fly traps
