I know it's in my best intrerest to get it off my name at the traffic dept.

As far as selling to a scrapyard.. what's the process? Just go up to them and say hey you want a car? My car's engine is shot.. how would I know what's a fair price? Anyone done this recently?

If you not in sure need of the money imo I would strip some major parts

a Guy I knew, tow his very old car to the scrap place, rope broke ten times, car was sold as scrap metal, he got a few rand more than his effort was. He told everyone how much trouble he had only to get a few rand.

Thanks Tom

Yeah I've spoken to a few peopl who say it's not worth repairing as it's not a common vehicle.

If it’s not a common vehicle then you will also get close to nothing if you sell it to a scrap yard

Aww nuts. I thought it would make it MORE desireable to the scrapyard.

if they stripped it for parts it would be very slow moving for them i would recon, i.e not worth their effort when there are so many other cars in their lot. Like they would make money don't get me wrong, but they would act like they are doing you a favor taking it off your hands.
