I have a really brilliant web based idea, but I lack the resources to tackle it on my own. As a programmer, I strongly believe that if it's to do with code, I can do it (Eventually). The concept is pretty simple, but hosting it will be quite a task as it's backbone db will be huge.

Now, I'm wondering if I should just sell the idea to Google or chase it on my own.

If you have their cellphone number maybe invite them for a beer & braai you never know what might happen :p

LOL, it does not work like that, you're going to have to get somebody you can trust to check your plan, and then fix it and fix it and fix it and do research and cry like a baby.

Then you're going to draw up a confidentiality agreement and approach risk investors and get them to sign the confidentiality agreements and then try to sell them the prize.

And then, once you have 4 offers on the table ... then you can think of approaching your desired target.

Damn... that seems like a lot more effort than to just try and do it myself. Either way, I'll be doing research until I cry. Oh well, can't win anything if you don't risk anything. But I think writing a proper business plan anyway will reduce the risk of fatal mistakes.

You can always post your ideas here before going to Goggles... you never know who can improve/alter your ideas and make billions out of it :p

Yea, but it's sooo worth it, you'll get a better concept of exactly what it is you're selling, and .. most importantly, you'll learn how the financiers will look at your idea, which is of course, like you said, one of the ways that you should view your idea.

I've never been good at paperwork... but I guess now is as good time as any to get good at it. :D I'll get to that in the morning...

Thanks
