Selling my Dad's house

Hiya,

My Dad's gotten to a stage where he's ready to move into a retire village.

My brother I want to help him sell his house. My Dad stays in JHB South - big house on a double stand.

Ideas on who to speak to, how do we ensure we get he best possible price etc?

Good idea. Turn it into a guest house or build apartments, rent 'em out and your dad has a monthly income.

If not, call one of these thieving real estate agents to help you. Also advertise on your own, if you sell this way you avoid paying them jack.

Firstly, do not sign a contract for a sole mandate, it's the worst thing you can do as you will bind yourself to one agent for the remainder of the contract.

Secondly, advertise on all classifieds, that way you have a better chance of selling your place.

Thirdly, agree a fixed amount to pay an agent, as opposed to them taking a percentage cut.
