Hi Guys.

Recently I noticed that email being sent from my firewall does not relay via smtp.mweb.co.za anymore. For some weird reason the callout fails. When I relay mail via my server at the Campus in Bryanston, it works perfect.

I run exim 4.63-5.el5_6.2 on CentOS 6.2.

The sender address is root at firewall.starbright.co.za. Now the MX lookup for firewall.starbright.co.za is fine fromt he looks of things:

dig -t mx firewall.starbright.co.za

; <<>> DiG 9.3.6-P1-RedHat-9.3.6-16.P1.el5_7.1 <<>> -t mx firewall.starbright.co.za
;; global options: printcmd
;; Got answer:

It points to starbright.mooo.com which is where it should point to. I can send email to root at firewall.starbright.co.za and it works fine, but the MWEB callout fails with the following error:

host smtp.mweb.co.za [196.28.80.20]: 550-Verification failed for <[email protected]>
550-Called: 41.135.85.231
550-Sent: RCPT TO:<[email protected]>
550-Response: 530 Relaying not allowed
550 Sender address rejected: Sending user unknown

Can someone please shed some light on the issue as I am lost? Is it an issue with MWEB's smtp server or is the problem somewhere with my configuration?

Thanks in advance.

Good Morning fixx, please provide me your MWEB account details and I will do my utmost to get you the assistance you require.

I don't see how my account details are relevant here. I have an MWEB ADSL account and thus should be able to relay mail via your network without any issues not so?

Mweb account details: Has your phone number, mweb details and other relevant information handy, and can help pick up which radius you are authenticated to should that be a problem

To bypass this in the mean time use EHLO and authenticate with your [email protected] and pppoe password to relay irrespective of callout verification failure
