sending fax over 56k modem

I'm using MightyFax to send faxes for the first time. I get Fatal Timeouts when sending to an 011 number but gets successful when sending to an 086 number... What could be causing this?

I presume you have tested the 011 number by dialling it from your phone?

yes i have! could it be this MightyFax software + 56k modem can not establish proper communication with the physical fax machines as oppose to the fax-email services (086 numbers)?

This has something to do with the 011 number... I've tested my work 021 fax, went through well.. I'm dialing from Cape Town (021), could this be a problem?

The fax machine is probably out of paper or jammed. Call them and get someone to check the fax machine.

If it is working with various other numbers then I'd blame the 011 number.

it's FNB BTW... could their fax b offline hence the banks are closed? their number dials with no prob though & i cud hear the fax tone... Thanx anyway

If the fax was offline then it wouldn't answer.

you can try including a couple of commas after the number

e.g. if you call 0111234567 change it to 0111234567,,, this will stop your modem from timing out if the answering modem takes too long to complete the handshake.

The error occurs when sending FAX not dialing. Under status, i shows dialing, then says 'Got called-station ID', not sure what's that... Next when getting connection parameters after few coupler seconds, it give fatal time out error...says occurred when sending the fax. But as i said this happens on a 011 number...
