SENIOR IT: DATA SCRUBBER/MANIPULATOR
Offices in Pretoria East, occasional travelling

Job Description:
Our client does recovery audits on SARS payments by their clients. The Senior IT: Data Scrubber is responsible for the preparation of databases to enable the auditors to work effectively. Main duties include reviewing and amending a database that is incorrect, incomplete, improperly formatted, or duplicated.

Responsibilities:
Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases
Prepare documentations and specifications
Handle common database procedures such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc
Collaborate with other team members
Assist with software and hardware related problems

Skills and Qualifications:
SQL coding Essential
Extensive experience in Data scrubbing and manipulating data bases
Needs 3-5 years SQL experience
Advanced skills in MS Access
Advanced skills in Excel
SQL certification a definite advantage
Must have excellent accuracy skills and be able to work quickly and efficiently
Previous experience in a data entry role, fast and accurate typing speed, excellent attention to detail and be able to work to deadlines
The ideal candidate will be able to start working independently immediately

Salary R200 000 to R300 000 per annum. Benefits to be discussed in interview.

Is this what you get paid as a SQL developer after 5 years? 2-300k p.a?

I agree with you guys im just posting what was sent to me...

Fair enough...Understand it is what the company is requesting.

I honestly feel like companies are exploiting people because they know the economy is tough at the moment.

This is a market. Companies can do what they wish to do. If the candidate agrees to the price , then its not exploitation.

What sets salary levels is candidates saying no thanks to low salaries. Then prices are forced to rise (as they have been doing for DB administrators and developers) and companies that play low-ball simply get no-one to work for them.

In this case , they are offering a well below market related rate. When they haven't been able to hire anyone competent after 3-4 months , they'll raise their offering or not have their database sorted out.

Point is people are forced to accept jobs like these due the bad economy. It's a struggle for grads to get jobs and obviously the government does nothing about it.

The only guys that pick and choose is the experienced ones. Otherwise you are pretty much screwed.

No wonder everything is such a balls up. Willing to let someone with 3 years exp loose on a db with important SARS audit info. How could that possibly go wrong.
