My client is a fast moving start-up that provides Internet services and applications aimed at the billions of people in developing markets using mobiles phones. Their focus is on speed and utility. They reach millions of users per month and are growing fast. They have a flat management structure and work in small self-managed, self-motivated teams. Their aspirations are big and this role would especially suit someone that is willing to grow with the task.
They are expanding their operations from Sydney, Australia to Cape Town and need to build a team who will help take their user engagement to the next level through 2014. They need smart people to add high quality, fun, engaging features and content to the product experience as well as enhance their existing suite of applications.
Can you apply?
They are eager to hire exceptional software engineers with experience in high traffic environments and large data problems. You would be joining the team with a focus on enhancing existing applications as well as designing and developing new ones within their environment. Building for scalability and robustness are key requirements as they grow.
• 1-5 years’ experience in the following technologies:
o PHP, Java, Perl, Python, Shell
o Mobile/Web application development, WAP, WML, HTML
o Architecting and managing robust, secure and scalable systems
o Apache, MySQL, NoSQL, Memcache
• Experience with online APIs (Google, Facebook, Wordnik and more)
• Code profiling and benchmarking
• XML, SOAP and JSON
• REL based Linux hosted in the Amazon cloud
• Version control using bit bucket
• Jira issue / project management
