The Centre for Infectious Diseases Epidemiology & Research (CIDER) in the School of Public Health and Family Medicine is a large, dynamic research group with more than 80 staff and an annual budget of >R30 million. The Centre seeks to appoint a Senior Technical Writer on a full-time one-year contract in support of its technical assistance role to the National Department of Health’s roll out of TIER.Net which has been implemented in over 4000 facilities. The main purpose of this position is to develop training materials such as user guides/manuals, managing the document development lifecycle and provide valuable input by working closely with the software development team
Requirements:
-3 year degree in health, information, computation science or related field
-3 years or more experience working on a software development team or writing technical documentation such as data dictionaries and business algorithms
-2 years or more experience developing traditional training materials and/or providing training workshops
-2 years or more experience implementing TIER.Net, PHCIS, EKAPA will be advantageous
-1 year or more experience in playing the Scrum Master role will be advantageous
-Knowledge of documentation tools to develop templates, manipulate output styles, and manage technical content
-Strong written and verbal communication in English
-Extremely detail oriented Ability to understand, reorganize, and synthesize complex information
Responsibilities:
-Management of Document Development Life Cycle (DDLC)
-Development of traditional training materials (user guides, report manuals, technical guides, slide presentations)
-Development of data dictionaries and business algorithm documentation
-Software quality assurance
-Potentially playing the Scrum Master role
The annual cost of employment, including benefits (where applicable), is between R378 433 and R445 215.
One-year fixed term contract appointed on PASS Staff conditions.
The post is located in an academic environment which is supportive of further training and professional development.
