Sennheiser 448's

Its more Team Speak that ruins it in Game Mode, cant take the echo! How to get rid of that while in game? Set TS to 3d?

I get no echo with Game Mode with Essence STX and HD595. In fact I've never gotten echoes whatsoever (when using a mic, as HD595 are not a headset with mic).

If you think they're worse than a cheapo Chinese headset then they haven't been set up correctly. Sennheiser PC350 are some of the best proper gaming headsets out there. Have you enabled amplification that the PC350's (600Ohm!) requires?

Also don't forget to burn them in by leaving stuff playing over night. They'll only sound better after being burnt in.

By the way, please let us know ASAP your findings, before people who do not own decent sound cards and headsets start misinterpreting your initial analysis and then start spreading it as fact, i.e. "Eish, Xense sux", "PC350 sux, hectic", etc.

If you're using a Xonar, then do yourself a favor and use the Uni Xonar drivers.

Personally, I don't use any of the mode buttons, except for GX very occasionally. Just do your setup via the tabs on the control panel (since all that the mode buttons do is give you presets). Make sure everything is off under the 'Effect' tab (esp the 'more' button is easy to overlook) and make sure Flexbass is off for headphones.

For headphones/headset, if you're using Dolby Headphone for surround emulation on stereo headphones, then you need to set the channels to 6 or 8 (and then try the different modes for the best setup for you). If you just want stereo, then make sure Dolby Headphone is off.

As for TS, I have never used it, but I think you can use the AEC tab to get rid of the echo.

Also, if you are using a USB headset, then this shouldn't do a thing, since the headset will use its own built-in chip.

Ok.... So I changed a few settings, set to PCM out with virtual 7.1 and did not use the gaming FPS preset. Sounds much better. As soon as I try use the FPS preset I get the hollow echoes in Teamspeak and any other voice in game.

Aren't you using the Xonar Xense bundle? The one with the Sennheiser PC350 headphones? If so then it won't matter what you set the SPDIF to, it's the optical out, only used for connecting to a digital receiver/amp.

This is what I use.

For gaming:

Audio Channel: 6/8 (depends on game, ime, as to which works better, 8 seems to be fine for most)

Sample Rate: 44.1khz (sample rate of the files you are listening to, and games almost always use this)

Analog Out: Headphone/FP Headphone

Dolby Headphone: Tick (DH-1 usually the best for clarity/positional audio, through DH-2 sometimes nice for singleplayer depending on the game, e.g. I find Skyrim great with it. DH-3 far too reverby and busy for me)

7.1 Virtual Speaker shifter: I don't think this helps much under Dolby Headphone, but you're welcome to experiment with it

Nothing on under any of the other tabs, and GX button and SVN off.

For music:

Audio Channel: 2

Sample Rate: 44.1khz or higher (sample rate of the files you are listening to)

Analog Out: Headphone/FP Headphone

Dolby Headphone: Untick (Though, if you have good quality source material, e.g. high bitrate lossless or CDs, you can use DH to your preference, otherwise I find it decreases quality noticeably with MP3s. This is really personal preference, though, so use it if you think it sounds better. I personally find listening to jazz FLACs/CDs to be much better with DH on.)

7.1 Virtual Speaker shifter: off (same as above)

Dolby Pro Logic II: off (You can try play with it, but I found it didn't make things better for me)

If you're listening to music in pure stereo (no DH) then I'd get a crossfeed plugin for your music player. I find this really helps with the fatigue and headaches that you can get from using headhones for a long time when listening to music.

As for the Echo issue with voice, try using the AEC or VocalFX tabs.
