Just saw it on Mnet

"Sentech is offering SA better Broadband"

" and comming soon for business too, and voice "

MUHAHAHA!!! With all the flak they've received to date and obviously material reduction in their client base, they've clearly decided to try and catch more ignorant suckers, the fools...

you can fool some of the people some of the time... not all of the people all of time

Sentech are fools (for those who know me in person, knows how I sound when I laugh evially) mwhahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

A recent person I had a meeting with is getting it. I warned them about it - that usually works, but what happened was an ADSL thing.

This person wanted ADSL but hellkom couldn't help because there was some ancient burial grounds there or something - you know, the usual hellkom excuses.

Well, I told um that Sentech was ****e Internationally, but said locally it's fine - which it is.

They STILL want to get the service indicating that they just want fast and cheap email.

Fair enough, what more can I do ? - I failed to convince the person they were making a big mistake, but TellyTubbybrainskom couldn't or wouldn't help out - I think they mentioned something about the amount of bee activity in the area or was it ants ? - could've been flooded manholes, or termites in the telephone poles.

You just can't get ADSL sir.
South African Consumer: -small voice- *ok*

er, bb_matt, iburst's prelaunch package is there, open and waiting. Rather point him to something else OTHER THAN sentech or telkom...

oh, and if you're friend is not really technical re: pc's, tell him his email will be slow because of port shaping and the fact that most internet providers host the email internationally anyway because of bandwidth costs...

at least lie to him to make him go away from sentech!

well thats the only thing I enjoy about sentech at this point in time is accesing my email which flies down... but then I have my own mail server which makes thing easier...

As for the new Sentech ad. It is more a master brand ad then about MW. but I am sure the voice says offering SA better fraudband...

Anyways after my eTV post I realised just how stupid it is fighting Sentech so the moment I have energy I am going to move to iBurst... It is ultimetly the only way one can fight Sentech and that is to move away from them and as Noone suggests... discourage people from Sentech. Word of mouth is after all the most powerful form of destruction avialable to us.

I recently rediscovered IRC and met some chaps online from cape town who were awed that I was running a Sentech connection. When I finished with them they were asking when iBurst and other offerings are coming out. I pointed them to MyAdsl for the best insite into any of the packages around.

I think when discouraging people point them here... because its the best thing to say: "hey dont take it all on my oppinion, go to My Adsl and check out Setech forums for what Sentech users think of MW"

Good for MyAdsl and Bad for Sentech....

With that said and slightly off topic... any speed increases anywhere. Here is the same old same old... although last night a BitTorrent was coming down at a 22KB speed average on a MW128K international. I was impressde.
Single threads are still stupid with an avergae of about 3KB/s...

I might try a pringle can soon... purely out of experimentation.

myWireless 128, 64, 48, 16 - depends on its mood.

Yeah - I could, but they need connectivity this year and iBurst isn't open to everyone yet. I did mention it to them and the fact that next year, there's going to be some interesting opportunities arising.

I'm sure you've all seen the Vodafone teaser adds.

Vodacom/Vodafone should have thier 3G services up and running soon - at least by next year. There'll be iBurst. Hopefully Telkom will have to cut ADSL costs due to competition.

But right now, ADSL is simply the fence to sit on and wait till things improve. Without a contract, it gives you the freedom to move onto any offering that comes along.
