Hey

Just wanne know if Sentech will introduce a gaming package in the near future. Gaming package meaning getting like sub 50ms on a 256k connection cos i think Sentech's gaming pings are the only thing holding a lot of people back and from getting sentech

Have a look at a brilliant post by TheRodent.

To sum it up - the technology used has some built in latency... no way around it. So it's unlikely you'll see a low latency package any time soon....

If Sentech look at some of IPWireless' 3Ghz fixed wireless solutions this may change BUT I've not heard more than a rumour or 2 about this

im not techie so sorry for asking stupid questions but what did megawan use cos i know ppl that had megawan got almost adsl pings 2 severs

I'm speaking under correction but they used something basic on 802.11 - Wireless LAN technology.

We are using a cellular based technology. Better range & management but it does have its down sides.

Tradeoffs.... Arrgh ;-)

Oh well... When I strike it right I'll get ADSL as well ;-) .. AFAIK a few people on here actually have Mywilress and ADSL... nice if you can afford it ;-)

I dont know whether this would help but with regard to Sentech and gaming and how it holds up but I have had some success with games
I have and am playing Eve: the second genesis and have played NFS underground both have run without a prob on 256.

I have found during peak times that it is sometimes a bit choppy when the pings drop but otherwise it is a-okay.

How the service holds up with your shooters like CS and Quake I dont know as I havent tested then they arent really my type of game but I dont know the 256 up seems to hold up with most games and I havent had complaints.

Hey Deon.

How is the Eve doing? Does it feel laggy ?
Or is it worth playing ?

Give me a review :)

About my experience with MyWireless and gaming ...
I actually hate online gaming :) I'm not planning to download counterstrike any time soon either, but ... the bit of quake3 that I got to play on a international server, not this country, I had a 300ms ping. hehe :) Well, I geuss to everyone that's not good, but I had 3rd most kills :) Ofcourse, I do suck at quake ... odly enough.

Anyways, BattleField vietnam anyone ? Just finished ... err buying it.
And wondering if anyone knows of local servers ? And where I can find cheap 512Mb ddr memory :) (Second hand means cheap :)

Later

I love my FPS games, and would rather play on a lan (seeing as you can physically bitchslap your team mates if they screw up, which is always fun)

I found my ping to be around 250-350ms which is fine for me to play with and I don't mind that. I'm one of those golden oldies who played online with a ping of 3000ms back in the day... [;)]

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

Rig passes noone a walking stick ... you'll need it to support the old RailGun...

How many times must we say that MyWireless is no good for gaming?

Can someone please add a large sticky banner so we can stop having the same question every 2 days.

Until they get it Karnaugh, until they get it... [8D]

What !!!

Sentech MyWireless is no good for gaming - are you kidding ! - I want my money back ! [8D]

/me goes and kicks FPS ass with TIMEOUT pings.

I run a 256 account and play Eve Online every night the game runs without a problem, at times there is a bit of lag or rather it jumps a bit but otherwise MOST times it runs without a problem, the jumpy times are when there are above around 5000 users online in the game world and you attempt play in the middle of the day after they have just reloaded the game worlds and reset the server EU side.

The game itself is a Space game where there is a Economy where barter is the name of the game you can either attempt to ship goods from one side of any given constelation to another for profit or, missions which are given by agents, or mining. There are two types of play either going it alone where you are the lone ranger of the galaxy or joining a band in the form of corporation where you go for team goals.

There are wars, big ships and then the never ending need for the 150 Million bucks for the Battleship of your dreams, its big and its shiny and its got more space for missiles, turrents, lasers and jammers than a fat kid has pockets for candy (every male wants a Big shiny thing to call his own), point in case look at your car :-)

Its worth it if you have nights of boredom and nothing to do other than curse DSTV for 40 channels and nothing to watch..

Its about the price of a copied game a month at the flea market and never ends and keeps changing...

Thats my review of the game

Well I know Sentech aint good for gaming but I was just wondering if Sentech will add like a gaming package thing in the future for the gamers

The best they could do is add game servers directly to their network to minimise the latency as much as possible, however given the inherent nature of 3G you will never get anywhere near ADSL pings.
