It'll only go live this afternoon after 16:00 due to errors they found on the application during the weekend.

*sigh*

And you don't have an option to pick up the modem, they courier it to you which will take 3 days approx. Hmmm, wonder if I can get overnight delivery then... :)

This means my application will only be processed tomorrow sometime, and I MIGHT have the modem by friday! [}:)] I was so looking forward to this..... noooooo! [:(]

do you feel lucky punk?! :)

I knew moving to JHB would be a good thing, hehe, all the newest *** comes out here first...

Yes thats why all the SMART people send all the lab rats up there :)

Well, now its tuesday morning, and unless my IE and Netscape arent refreshing the Sentech site, the application form has yet to go up. (Yes I'm keen to get the darn service - in a perfect world I'd have the service already)
Spoke with Sentech folks yesterday and one interesting fact emerged, apparently they're monitoring this site as a useful barometer of opinion of what they're doing.. there's still problems with application form, (they werent impressed when I casually asked if the firm doing the courier service were getting major kickbacks and how come I couldnt just go somewhere with ID and money, sign up and then walk away with the module...)
speaking with some higher up folks at Sentech just now (being an impatient sort who wants his Wireless NOW :) - if there's any great news will pass it on..

I'm a web developer who would offer my services FOR FREE, just to fix this technical issue they have with the app, I have the experience, ffs, besides, if I have a deadline, I sure as hell deliver!

How can one release a product and expect ALL applications to go via the online thing? [:(]

anyway, as I know stuff, I will post it as well

Hi

I decided to give it a try and apply for the 128k "line".

This application form reminds me of buying a house, I am surprized I never had to include my birth certificate.

Anyway, after filling in online, printing it out, signing, faxing, (Phew)they still want documents from the auditors to let them know that we exist as a company.

Well, anyway, I will see what happends next.

I am keen to hear others comments about this too..
cheers

That is what I don't understand... icanonline wasn't covered in the banking details, so I had to use my credit card... which I didn't want to in the first place, then I printed out the form... hell, they could just have easily let us download the blerrie thing, fill it in ourselves and save us the headache of waiting another day just to fill in some online application we have to print out and fax back IN ANY case....

effeciency? :)

At The Moment I think Sentech's Biggest Problem Is their relationship with the direct public, they need to research more about "marketting". What I don't also understand is that sentech owns/broadcasts for SABC but I hav'nt seen one add on TV as yet. The Word Needs To get around.

I suppose they might not want to do this as they are understaffed and their existing staff isn't train for the job they getting into.

oh well, I hope they imrove in time

..- dot dot dash ;)

I think they'll leave it for their partners to market rather...

no adverts, true, but have you seen the half-hour long sabc 3 interview with them? or the massive amount of media attention (especially in JHB?) not? oh okay... welcome from under that rock then [:D]

BTW, now that I think of it, the application is online, to ensure the user name you choose hasn't been chosen yet, and then bypass the hassle of contacting you to choose another one.....

*shrug* I still wanted to fill in my OWN banking details and not select it from a dropdown, according to their staff, that is where the initial error was on the application form and why they didn't release it till noon Tuesday....

Well, its been 2 weeks, and hardly a peep from Sentech.

I have phoned and spoken to a lady who assured me I would have my modem/device on the 30th Jan.....talk is cheap:)

Anyway, after all the application form hassle, I am still not having any joy. They really seem to be very dissorganised.

So far its been a very dissapointing experience.

Lol, yeah me too. Applied on the 20th and eagerly awaited my modem 3 days later. I reckon they got a massive backlog. Just like when the first cellphons came out and they used up their 6 months supply of handsets in two weeks.

I know this is very frustrating, but lets put it into perspective shall we.

If you get it today and it sucks it won't matter if they gave it to you 5 minutes after you applied. It will still suck and you will still hate them with an undying passion.

If they give it to you today and it rocks, you won't give a damn that it took two weeks to get, because you have it now and it rocks!!

So just chill out, set your watch back to africa time and relax. Nothing you can do about it and working yourself up just upsets you.

After all, you could be getting up in the dark, going to work in the cold, wondering what that pale glowie thing that rarely appears in the sky is and comming home in the dark. But you would have cheap broadband.

Well, its been almost 5 weeks, and still waiting.

No prizes for efficiency

So far I'd say Telkom adsl will get to me before Mywireless does.

Anyone else had this long wait?

Clive

You know - this moght be a case of sentech knowing that internet users are p&*^%d off with telkom and therefore they will join sentech - so why bother with advertising and good customer service???

Just a thought.

Finally got the modem! (for those who haven't read my saga, I applied on the 20th last month, and have been calling them four times a day) Went to pick it up, and from there it was smooth sailing!!! I was online within half an hour!
The installation+ signup process was definitely less painful than the application process (i.e. at least I can sort it out)

I got a 256k line, and I was getting 23kps speed. VERY GOOD indeed!

Now I am hoping the application process stays the same in case I have to share my bandwidth~!
