I've noticed that i've been getting disconnected each morning around 4am or something. it's a little annoying - but at least the speeds seems to be a little faster recently.
if you use MySignal you wouldnt even know you have been disconected as it will keep tryin to reconnect until conneced....
But I used to get a few disconnects in the ealry morning... recently my machine was on for 7 days without a single disconnect... only when Windows got a bit dodgy did I reboot... so their service atleast for me seems to be improving.
So to does the scumtech dialer, keep trying to reconect, the error/prblem/anoyance is that mine is disconecting due to no network coverage - please improve modem signal, whereas it is lack of signal from the tower.
What's annoying is being in the middle of a 60mb update and having to restart from scratch over and over again. I can understand once a day, but 5 times an hour? Crap.
Not even to mention the drama we went through today in finally contacting them because we could connect but after 10 secs the connection just hangs. Finally they tell me to take the modem to Fastcomm or wherever you are supposed to take it because the modem is OBVIOUSLY faulty. 3 Hours later it works (without taking the modem in to a place which just happens to be closed today). I have to control myself or else I would spew obscenities.
Sentech is great when it works. If you need tech support you are screwed because there is no such thing. I was told 2nd level will only get back to me by monday.
Still...being able to download 20gig instead of 3...there isn't even a choice as far as I am concerned.
JbhGirl I assume you're talking about some Microsoft Update? If so then I suggest you use the other option - to download the complete update file to your machine using something like GetRight that has a resume function. If not then please just ignore my gibberish.
Oh just for interest, I use MW on a mobile basis. I usually work from 4ways area, and usually I don't have a problem with disconnects. Recently however I spent a few days in Randburg (ABSA Bank area), and I had multiple disconnects. So, my conclusion is: same modem/PC/signal strength but different towers.
I've also managed to have almost 6 days permanent connection with only one disconnection due to firewall restart. Tower 22 (Hennopspark) seems to be very stable compared to the Mintek one where I had very frequent disconnections in the early mornings. Could be a better antenna?
I've had very stable connectivity, it has been months since I was last disconnected (by Sentech, obviously I sometimes disconnect myself or the power trips in Jozi).
Tonight is worse than usual again. I've spoken to some ppl on Ethereal and I'm not the only one being disconnected all the time. We seem to take turns :S
